Metallurgical Engineering Insights

Technical articles, explainers and case-study material.

This hub will publish technical articles, explainers and case-study material on recovery, beneficiation, process development, test work and sustainable metallurgy. Case studies are published only where VIIS holds authorised project evidence.

What will be published here?

Technical explainers on the methods behind recovery and beneficiation work, written for engineers and technically literate decision-makers rather than for search engines.

Case studies will appear only where VIIS holds authorised evidence for the project described. We do not publish performance figures, recoveries or outcomes that cannot be substantiated.

Articles

Publication in progress

The first technical articles are being prepared. Rather than fill this page with placeholder content, we will publish pieces as they are written and reviewed.

If there is a subject you would find useful — a method, a material stream, or a decision you are weighing — tell us and we will consider it for the queue.

Engineer reviewing technical results in a metallurgical plant and laboratory environment

Recovery is extracting the valuable species from a feed. Beneficiation is upgrading that feed or product — raising grade and removing deleterious material. In residue work the two normally happen within the same circuit.

An initial characterisation and screening assessment is typically a matter of weeks. A full development programme through bench and pilot validation runs considerably longer, and the honest duration depends on the material and the number of candidate routes.

Only where VIIS holds authorised evidence and the client has agreed to publication. We do not publish recoveries, performance figures or outcomes that cannot be substantiated.

Discuss your material or process challenge

If you hold a residue stream, by-product, tailings resource or slag with possible recoverable value — or a process that is not performing as designed — we are interested in the technical detail.
